Proud Flesh Powder – Caustic Topical Treatment for Horses

Proud Flesh Powder is a highly effective topical caustic agent formulated to assist in the management and reduction of proud flesh (excessive granulation tissue) in horses.

Composition:

Contains 14.25% finely-divided copper sulphate in a base of activated carbon, providing targeted action against abnormal tissue growth.

Indications & Use:

This powder is designed for use in the treatment of proud flesh, a common complication of equine wounds, particularly on the lower limbs where healing can be slow. Proud Flesh Powder works by chemically cauterising excessive tissue, helping to restore a smooth wound surface and promoting healthy healing.

To apply, the powder is sprayed directly onto the affected area and covered with an occlusive dressing to protect the site. As scabs form, they should be gently removed, and the powder re-applied until the proud flesh is sufficiently reduced.
